AK8 Movie Camera Carl Zeiss Jena c. 1955

Details

An elegant 1950s 8mm (Double 8) clockwork movie camera manufactured in East Germany (GDR) by VEB Kamera- und Kinowerke Dresden. This prized AK8 model is distinguished by its embossed side plaque featuring the Dresden castle tower logo. Fitted with a famous Carl Zeiss Jena Triotar 10mm f/2.8 prime lens. The upright body features a greenish-grey leatherette finish trimmed with bright chrome edging, a fold-out side winding key, and an authentic internal film compartment complete with take-up spool. Interestingly, the AK8 (Aktivisten-Kamera) stood as an icon of post-war Saxon optical craftsmanship. Displays fantastic cosmetic condition with light age-appropriate patina (slight lifting at the top edge leatherette), offered as an untested historical display collectible. A fine centerpiece for cine camera collectors and retro interior display.
