Initially, the Pathe Baby player had to be operated manually by turning a crank handle. Later, a small electric motor was added to eliminate the tedious task of turning the crank by hand. When equipped with the ‘Super Baby’ device, it was possible to project films of about 100 metres in length for about 20 minutes at a time.
