An exceptional 1930s medium-format folding camera manufactured in Dresden, Germany, by Balda-Werk. This highly sought-after Baldax model features a fast Meyer-Optik Trioplan f/2.9 7.5 cm lens paired with a precision Compur shutter. Built with a leatherette-wrapped metal body, folding optical viewfinder, and its original metal depth-of-field chart riveted to the back cover alongside dual frame-counter windows. Interestingly, 1930s Balda cameras were pioneering among medium-format foldables for introducing a body-mounted shutter release button for smoother handling. Displays a wonderful natural age patina and edge wear consistent with a mid-1930s piece (offered as an untested historical collectible). A prized addition for vintage photography collectors and classic decor displays.
