This exceptional historical piece is an antique carbide lantern from the well-known brand Nirona, specifically designed to operate using acetylene gas in the early 20th century. These portable mechanical devices were widely used as the first lighting systems for bicycles and motorcycles of the era, offering a powerful, bright white light far superior to candles thanks to the internal chemical reaction between carbide and water. The body of the lamp is entirely made of nickel-plated metal with an articulated rear mounting system featuring a spring-loaded shock-absorbing arm, ideal for dampening road vibrations. It retains its large transparent glass front lens, the top regulation valve for water dripping, and its characteristic colored glass side viewports (red and green) to monitor the flame. Presented and stabilized on a solid wood display stand, this piece remains in excellent condition, preserving all its patina and original technical charm for high-end decoration or serious collectors.
