A mechanical cast iron money box with a lever mechanism, a type of object that was very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
When the side lever is activated, the figure of the worker moves and the coin is automatically inserted into the box.
A labourer working on a wall, with a foreman or character peeking out from behind the wall. These ‘work’ scenes were very common in antique money boxes.
