A heavy-duty maritime desk or binnacle compass crafted in solid brass in the early 20th century (c. 1910). Housed in a thick cylindrical casing stamped with serial number 28 on the side, it features a glass face and an intricate vintage paper compass card graduated in 360 degrees with traditional English point markings. Interestingly, heavy brass compasses like this were specially designed for shipboard use to withstand rough sea movement and deliver stable navigation readings. Displays a rich, natural golden patina with light signs of age that highlight its historic maritime charm.
