Antique Powell & Hanmer Metal Lantern – Acetylene Lamp

This antique acetylene lantern (carbide lamp) was manufactured in Birmingham by the prestigious British firm Powell & Hanmer (P&H). In the early decades of the 20th century, these robust portable devices were widely used as pioneering headlamps for early transport, specifically vintage bicycles and motorcycles. This collector's piece features a compact metal body with a beautiful, rich aged patina. It stands out due to its prominent convex glass lens and small side jewel windows with tinted safety glass (green and red). The rear section retains its original spring-back mounting bracket, currently attached to a solid wood display stand decorated with the Union Jack and the inscription "P&H Acétylène". A wonderful piece of British industrial archaeology for premium collections.
