An elegant Art Deco desk perpetual calendar dating from around the 1930s, crafted in France (featuring the engraved Sysrac maker's mark on the back). It features a chrome-plated octagonal metallic body set upon a solid rectangular slab of dark veined marble. The manual mechanism allows updating the day of the week via side levers (in French) and adjusting the date digits and month through the rear knobs. Interestingly, these mechanical battery-free calendars were considered the pinnacle of luxury stationery during the interwar period, adorning the executive desks of prestigious French offices. Displays a charm-filled natural patina with light surface wear on the chrome plating consistent with age and historical use, while maintaining a fully functioning mechanism.
